A peek into the heartwarming stories shared over momo and butter tea.
At YAK Garden Kitchen & Café, we're more than just a garden restaurant in Kathmandu. We’re a resting point, a story hub, and a second home to many who visit the Boudhanath Stupa regularly. Our regulars don’t just come for the best Momo in Kathmandu or for our comforting bowls of thukpa, they come for the calm, the conversation, and the community.
Tsering, The Morning Monk
Every morning before sunrise, Tsering stops by for a cup of Tibetan butter tea. He says it reminds him of his childhood in eastern Tibet. His soft-spoken wisdom often lingers long after he's gone.
Rinzin & Dawa, The Textile Sisters
These two sisters run a small handicraft shop nearby. They come for lunch almost every other day and swear by our ema datshi. Their laughter fills the garden as they share stories about fabrics, festivals, and their childhood in Bhutan.
Rajiv, The Kathmandu Photographer
Rajiv says Yak Garden is his 'editing spot' after a morning shoot around the stupa. He calls our thenthuk his secret creative fuel. His photos of our plates have even gone viral — no kidding.
From pilgrims to artists, monks to entrepreneurs, our regulars are part of our soul. Their stories breathe life into this space just as much as the food does. Come by sometime. You might just find a familiar face or become one.
